MISSION STATEMENT

Victoria Area Music Association (VAMA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the Promotion, Preservation, and Education of the musical arts in the greater Victoria area.

OUR VISION

VAMA is building strong ties within all facets of the greater Victoria area music community by way of:

  •  ‎Providing membership benefits, utilizing resources and collaboration of its members, sponsors, and grants, and public contributions. ie – VAMA Swag, Music Education Programs, Discounts at local businesses, Artist Spotlight  and Recognition in several formats, “available” Musician Pool for fill ins, Stage Sharing opportunities with local and national acts, Business Plan Assistance, Grants, Newsletter, Free Admission to most VAMA Events, inclusion on VAMA Compilation Album, a voice in the inner workings of VAMA, future Financial Assistance and Group Health Insurance options for VAMA Members, etc.
  •  Organizing multiple events, catering to the needs and desires of musicians of all ages and genres and the businesses associated, where in which artists, venues and businesses have an opportunity to trade ideas, songs, stories and great times, and showcase on the “Big Stage” alongside national acts. ie – Festivals, Open Mic Jams, Band Camp, Social Mixers, Awards Ceremonies, Meet & Greet Events, Benefits, etc.
  •  Regularly promoting all related area musicians, bands, businesses, educators, and events on multiple platforms. ie – Print, Radio, Television, Social Media, Signage, Newsletters, Rack Cards, Interviews, Documentaries, etc.
  •  ‎Creating more opportunities and increasing revenue for area businesses and musicians to profit through mutual cooperation. ie – Member Discount Cards, access to a concise list of Venues/Businesses/Artists, Spotlight Features in publications, Fundraising for Charitable Entities/Educators/Struggling Businesses/Emerging Artists, etc.
  •  ‎Serving as the voice of local music business to our communities and related organizations. ie – association with Cities, Chamber of Commerces, Preservation Societies, Educators, Victoria Art League, First Responders, VIFF, Texas Music Office, Association with other similar music non profits located in and out of Texas, etc.

 

VAMA Board of Directors 

 

Victoria Area Music Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation and education of the musical arts in the Victoria area. VAMA hopes to be the tie that binds our amazing musical community, through our shared passion and persistence.  We hope you can join us!

 

Burris manages and performs with the Rhythm & Blues group The Hot Attacks on vocals and bass, hosts the VAMA BLUES BREAK Open Mic Jam, and is a member of the Texas Music Commission.

 

 

James fronts the Country Variety group Jerry James Band on vocals and guitar, is Director of Intergovernmental Relations at City Of Victoria, and is a former board member at Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA).

 

 

Gentry was raised on Austin Blues, and avidly attends and promotes live music events in and around the Crossroads Area. Actually, he’ll go anywhere to listen to a little blues and will drive faster if BBQ is involved.

 

 

Postel is a native of Victoria and currently works as a Guest Services Specialist for the Victoria Convention & Visitors Bureau. She also does part time work at  the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts. Bridgitte is an ambassador for our city, enjoys all types of live music and likes working with the public. She continues to serve all three of these passions as a member of our VAMA Board of Directors.

 

Vivian owns Danny Vivian Photography and is a portrait, event, and live music photographer. He has been active in the local live music scene for years, helping  promote local musicians and venues through his promo and performance photography, his “Backstage with Danny Vivian” column in Victoria In Motion magazine and through his “Crossroads LIVE” facebook page.

 

Riley, VAMA’s Sergeant At Arms is a renowned world class Fiddler, and hosts the BOOTS & BREWS Country Open Mic Jam at Aero Crafters. She brings a wealth of industry insight and experience from the local to the national level, as well as a ton of great ideas to VAMA.

 

 

Jasche is a musician and former owner of Steve-A-Reno’s Rock n Roll Blues Bar, and avidly attends and promotes Live Music events in and around the Crossroads Area.

 

 

 

Rodriguez is Chief Engineer for Hilton Garden Inn – Victoria, and avidly attends and promotes Live Music events in and around the Crossroads Area. “Uncle D”

 

 

 

Harrington manages Shooters Bar, is a huge proponent of live music in and around the Crossroads, and our newest Member to join the VAMA Board. She brings a wealth of experience in the Venue Management and Talent Buying fields to the organization, as well as a can do attitude!

 

 

Leo is the official VAMA Mascot, loves to use his beauty, approachability, and talents to attract the attention of like minded music and fun lovers, and avidly attends and promotes Live Music events in and around the Crossroads Area.

 

 

 

Each Board Member brings something different and unique to the table. Be it by way of their resources and connections, special skills and trades, progressive ideas and thinking, sum of experience, or simply their pure passion for music.
